About Us

The American Legion, chartered by the U.S. Congress, is the nation’s largest veterans' service organization. It is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization and is the leading advocate of benefits for veterans and service members and their families.

Post 132 sponsors programs that provide care and assistance to local veterans and service members in need, that promote American traditions and values, and that promote the health and well-being of the children and youth of the local community. The Post and its ladies Auxiliary Unit have received recognition from local, state and national organizations for their programs.

The American Legion was founded in 1919 on four guiding principles: a strong national defense, Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, Americanism, and Children and Youth programs. Membership eligibility of veterans and those currently serving requires honorable service and at least 1 day on active duty during a period of war or conflict, including the war on terrorism.

Donations to the American Legion Oro Valley Post 132 are tax-deductible as charitable contributions to the full extent of the law.
